For me if it makes sense for flavor you may as well run it as such

The proper answer is to have players with working pattern recognition. There are monsters other than just rakshasas that are affected by only some spells; most golems are immune to all spells but a few exceptions. "Our spells aren't working, but full magic immunity is exceptionally rare. Try something stronger or specifically anti-tiger-devil." "I can't sleep at night due to creepy-butt nightmares. What did I fight recently that may have cursed me? Maybe the tiger-devil?"
It seems like every "issue" people discuss surrounding D&D 5e could be solved by just being not r-slurred.

Nothing has been worse for the RPG hobby than becoming socially acceptable. Now droves of normalstrag r-slurs have swarmed in, exclusively playing D&D because it's the only one with any brand recognition. THAC0 was incredibly simple yet did a wonderful job of keeping most people from ever playing.

I think it depends on your group. If you're playing with people who have played for years or decades there's no need to provide those hints and I'm fact those hints would detract from it. But newer players would get frustrated without any real hope of figuring it out without some blatant hinting

It was stuff like this that made it annoying to get into the game. You’re supposed to be roleplaying but without some degree of meta knowledge, a lot of the game is just banging your head against the wall trying to figure out what works.
Like how am I supposed to know that trees are resistant to arrows? It’s very confusing if you don’t read a guidebook before playing

Are you joking? If you shoot a tree, does it fall? We use axes on trees for a reason
