The proper answer is to have players with working pattern recognition. There are monsters other than just rakshasas that are affected by only some spells; most golems are immune to all spells but a few exceptions. :marseythinkorino: "Our spells aren't working, but full magic immunity is exceptionally rare. Try something stronger or specifically anti-tiger-devil." :marseythinkorino: "I can't sleep at night due to creepy-butt nightmares. What did I fight recently that may have cursed me? Maybe the tiger-devil?"

It seems like every "issue" people discuss surrounding D&D 5e could be solved by just being not r-slurred.

Nothing has been worse for the RPG hobby than becoming socially acceptable. Now droves of normalstrag r-slurs have swarmed in, exclusively playing D&D because it's the only one with any brand recognition. THAC0 was incredibly simple yet did a wonderful job of keeping most people from ever playing.
