Its the same problem that people who still cling to claims that 40k is satire run into. When your enemies are torture r*pe murder demons its hard to not have people side with the lesser evil.

The problem is that the imperium is also big into torture and r*pe. See the servitors. Beinf a chaos spawn and being a servitor are fairly indistinguishable.
