KotOR and Mass Effect 1 both did the character interactions better (and both look better). Jade Empire probably did too, but I haven't played that. Witcher 1 is just a better version of the combat system focused on one person rather than a group. As far as being an RPG, there's tons of fantasy games that are better for autism character building/rpg stuff. It's so mid I have to assume it's lots of people's first fantasy RPG if they love it.

I bought this on release day and played it every day for like a month. Then one day, I just stopped and realized how unfun it was.
Picked it up again last week to finish it off. The PS5 upgrade is gorgeous but the gameplay is beyond garbage, borderline trolling territory.

Never played Witcher 3 (and only got half way through the first one), but God of War 2018 was a fun action game. The Last of Us wasn’t anything great gameplay-wise but the story was good.
Back to OP's theme, I still haven't beaten Horizon: Zero Dawn. The gameplay is fun but the world and story and are meh. I thought maybe it was because I didn’t appreciate open world games as much anymore, but I played and beat Ghost of Tsushima and Elden Ring since the last time I played Horizon.
