GPUs that can run all modern titles at 144 fps and 1440p on high settings are expensive. I wish the RTX 3070/3080 had more VRAM and I would buy it, but with only 8/10 gigs I would have buy a new one 2 years later again.

I'm nervous. My replacement Ryzen is arriving today. In the meantime I managed to frick up the am5 socket a tad and broke off two pins. I don't know if the "pcie clock request 4" pin is critical to system operation or not. Like, does it affect a dedicated video card or just the on-die ryzen graphics?
I have a spare mainboard onhand that i planned on returning to Amazon and get my $200 back. Clearly somebody else already bought and returned it because there were parts in the box for a Noctua cooler and the factory heatsink bracket was half missing. I'm guessing they couldn't figure out the required BIOS update for 7000-series because you need to partition your USB thumbstick a special way (gpt instead of mft or vice versa) and can't use the usb ports closest to the bios update button.
Edit: started and ran. Scared me because it took 24 seconds to finally give a POST beep. Temperature monitor said it hit 88°C just launching rdr2 so I'll need to see if I'm just r-slurred at applying thermal paste.
