Hello. I don’t usually feel the need to post about vidya unless it’s NMS, but this is really something else.
Dave the Diver
$19.99

This is a pixel game about a fat man named Dave. To be more specific, it is about a fat man named Dave who dives. The genre is diving fishing restaurant management sim farming action exploration survival puzzle crafting game. The core gameplay loop is diving, with Dave. Diving with Dave and killing fish to sell in your sushi bar at night and collecting materials to upgrade things. The first hour is a bit iffy as the game has you dive only a little bit into the shallows and you have a lot of talking as features are gradually introduced and you wait tables at the sushi bar.
But then as things open up you will be attaching drones to dozens of different types of sharks you kill hoping to get them back to your fish farm so they can breed and you can eat their babies
which you will then sell with hundreds of other dishes at your extremely customizable staffable sushi bar in which you also hire and train staff to perform a variety of tasks
And then maybe you’ll end up in some weeb’s (he makes and upgrades your guns) dream of some weeb concert waving glowsticks around, bookended by a cinematic of him hugging a waifu body pillow
Only to wake up for more diving the next day but you use your magic mirror to go directly to the abyssal zone sea people village because you want to frick around in the casino or use their blacksmith or do quests or, you know, race some of your stable of caught and trained sea horses against the mermiggers on the like 20 different racing circuits
Maybe you will end up sucked into a vortex and fighting a giant hermit crab with a truck on his back
Or be ambushed by the PETA org that is always trying to kill you
Or farming or doing some weird stealth mission as you stalk a cat to find out what the little shit is hiding or playing some black archaeologist getting chased and shot at in a boat by pirates or playing minigames on your phone or collecting fish Pokémon cards because this other nerd won’t shut up about them and
It is a shockingly expansive game with a staggering amount of both width and depth and I really cannot recommend it strongly enough. 1mn players within a week of release. It’s $20. Treat yourself. Buy the fat man game.
