I wanted to test the waters again and check to see if holding the rDrama Week 1 Tekken 8 Tournament™ is even worth it, because if it's only a couple of us there's no point

Is Tekken 8 actually good or is it all hype?
I bought it and played it a bit yesterday and it felt fricking awful. Normally I'd go with my gut and say it's terrible but the overwhelming majority of people seem to disagree with me so I'm reluctant to be as dismissive as i normally am with modern fighters.

Zafina movement feels very sluggish and attacks seem much more difficult to sidestep. I've switched to Lily for now and am enjoying the game a bit more, but still getting jailed by heat attacks and eating a ton of chip damage from some dumb gorilla is really annoying.
I'll hang tough with it for a bit. Zafina might have just been hit with some nerfs but I never played T7 all that seriously so I'm not really qualified to say. I'll stick with Lily for now and try to enjoy the struggle.

I play a ton of them. I've enjoyed Tekken in the past but am generally more of a 2D player. I play mbaacc and uni pretty casually and am legitimately good at Xrd and BBCF. I don't care much for strive or sf6, and find gbfv to be painfully boring.
I guess what I'm looking for is for someone who likes the game to tell me what they like about it. The camera cuts are jarring, but I could probably get over them. I'm generally a pretty lame player so the orientation towards offense is a bit of a turn off for me, though im sure i could adapt to that as well.
