In real life, victory looks like your side seizing the reins of governmental and organizational power and using it to slowly grind the vermin who stood in your way completely out of existence over the course of a generation. It's not clean and neat. There's rarely a tidy ending where your opponents say "Whoops, we fricked up! Sorry, you were completely right!" Instead it's an eternal war that lasts until the superior ideology wins and the inferior ideology is either destroyed or adapts its principles enough to be a different paradigm entirely.
