I've spent most of today and yesterday evening playing it, mostly exploring. It's so much better than the base game.
Also the game's getting review-bombed by people seething over getting skill-checked, check the game's steam forums for fresh drama if you're interested link.

Dark Souls 1 is excellent, 2 and 3 were just gilding the lily and weren't great. Sekiro was top notch and definitely worth trying at least. I need to replace my 1070 before I try Elden Ring. It looks pretty slick though.
I would definitely recommend the two games for sure. They're interesting enough to at least be worth an attempt.

Sekiro is really good if you played Dark Souls and thought "darn I hate all this exploring, atmosphere, lore, characters, treasure and RPG mechanics, I wish the whole game was just six hours of the bit where you press L1 to parry gwyn and literally nothing else"

Elden Ring runs fine on older hardware

My 3570k can still run it, albeit not optimally, so most relatively recent systems should be fine.

Neighbor what. DS3 is 9/10. And it's only that low because Sekiro is perfection.

I legit think the wind waker remake where they removed the need to control the boat ruined it and made it too casual

Yes. They did the same with Majora's Mask 3D where they made the boss fights easier for some reason.

Ive thought that elden ring enabled bad players too much, its way too easy to cheese most of the game. This dlc uproar is proving that, too many shitters that never actually had to learn the game
Jump in the discussion.

Yeah, which made running through it and replay value nosedive
Elden ring has more BS, but exponentially more cheese to brainlessly negate it. Itt takes all the fun out of r-slur routing if there's no barriers to getting shit.

Elden Ring has been rotting in my backlog and I've never even launched it

If you enjoy souls games at all you'll like it. I'm a big souls fan and Elden Ring had me in an almost constant state of "wow look what I found!" and "omg this shitty little crack lead to a huge area and it keeps getting bigger" for a solid 150 hours. Purists may find it mid, Dark Souls 2 was my favorite if that gives you an idea what camp I'm in.

I wish I liked DS2 more because I know it's a good game in its own right, surely a lot better than most games, but it's just so different from my beloved ds1 and 3 I think once I'm done with this DLC I'll give it another shot
Jump in the discussion.

2 was built different for sure, I like it because the worlds gave me the most sense of wonder and the main area music is a hum trapped in my head forever. 3/Bloodborne took the movement to the next level and everything before feels bad in comparison.

Wow look what I found! A flower, two pieces of dung and a beetle! I can make a shitty throwing weapon I'll never use out of these!
You'll love the DLC where the only things to find are smithing stone 2s at the point where you're max level with fully upgraded weapons

Its the insane scaling on the DLC. They wanted you to farm the scat tree blessings so they cranked the health and damage on everything up massively. If you farm them out it starts to bring you to a relative parity but until then, you'll be getting killed in 2-3 hits while doing very little damage in turn.
By the time you reach lategame in the DLC you'll have 80% damage resistance and the final boss will still hit you for 1600 damage. If you don't have a ton of blessings by that point, its basically a oneshot on 60 vigour.

That just sounds like shit design tbh

It will make replaying it a huge slog too. Give it a month or two for the hype to wear off and people will start to realize just how obnoxious it is as a design choice, especially considering just how far spread out they are across the entire map.

I haven't looked at it yet but I played the crap out of the base elden ring. It was hard, but it wasn't even anywhere close to the ridiculous difficulty of bloodborne.

I'd say Bloodborne is easier than DS3 or the DLCS for 1 or 3. Its hard initially cos you have to get used to the new mechanics, but it gives you so many options to control the battle that once you get to grips with it its waaaay easier than even Elden Ring where you literally just have a shitty little slow attack and a trash dodgeroll while every enemy is the Orphan of Kos

Rellena was kind of a b-word, but other than that no. If I were using summons or ashes it would have all be fine, but I'm a tryhard so such is life

Rellanas combos are absurd but shes pretty fair as it's clear how to dodge all her attacks and when you can punish. Dancing lion was kinda bs though with how bad the camera was in the fight

The lion also sucked, but I felt I was right there on every attempt. Rellana would take me from 100 - 0 sometimes. God forbid you miss the first dodge on her moon attack.

Golden Parry makes parrying much easier if you haven't already tried it. It gives you a 15 foot radius as a handicap.
