@FrozenChosen placed a AskHistorian link where the author, whom was a historian argued from his interpretation of raw sources that Yasuske was a samurai on a technicality
i was biased against this link from Chosen because I have seen AskHistorians behave dodgy in the past and have the believe that they are ideologically compromised, and distort the truth. I do however realize my own chud right-wing bias and concede my own mind would be too compromised to interpret essays against what i perceive
I tried to look into pretty much all of the sources from this link

But the language barrier is absolutely impenetrable to me. It means im at the mercy of whatever truth is espoused to me from people i have no faith in would tell me the truth.
Searching for alternative sources on the internet, google, firefox, showed me little and i wasn't about to make an extra obsessive effort after this. I also distrusted rightoids just as much - the reality could be that Yasuske was indeed in fact a fully fledged Samurai after all.
I mean shit i fear the bias from AskHistorians just as much as that of Wikipedia - like if you guys ever found that i had posted an article i had posted, linked via wikipedia, I'd retroactively tell you guys to fricking ignore whatever crap i had longposted about.

"Samurai" as a social class wasn't all that neatly defined back in the sengoku period and we have less of a paragraph worth of historical sources on this neighbor so it's really just a matter of opinion tbh. It's barely a stealth game since your sneaky attack isn't a guaranteed kill, but I really enjoyed cranking the difficulty up all the way so it became an actual challenge. You die in a few hits and you really have to consider your equipment load out for the situation on the hardest difficulty.

I only played the AC that takes place in Italy, but It felt like they put effort in to making the world feel sorta realistic, but the characters were basically anything goes.

Given this games development cycle it's highly likely that the devs decided on Yasuke as a main character in 2020 because of BLM, so unironically they probably did think "how can we add a black guy to this to show our support to black lives".
I totally understand how thinking that sounds chuddy. I work in the games industry though and am surrounded by DEI ideologues( lib mayos) and one of the things that becomes clear the more you talk to them is that they really see the world as only having two races, white and black. Latinx, and Asians are a secondary thought to them when it comes to representation and "equity".
DEI is supposedly covering everyone from every walk of life but in practice it's really just about adding more black representation at the expense of everyone else to try and soothe liberal white people's racial guilt and self hatred for living in the US or a successful western country with a colonial past.

I think it's chuds seizing their moment. Yasuke would be defensible, but he feels strikingly out of place in Sengoku Japan. So the game smells like DEI even if the devs genuinely thought Yasuke was an interesting choice. And this time white chuds who have a bone to pick with DEI can be backed up by Asians and Japanese people who feel less guilt about slavery than mayos and are less inclined to roll over in submission.
It also doesn't help that AC fans were calling for a Japanese AC for years and were clearly imagining creeping around as a ninja. Ubisoft's marketing might have been able to save themselves here by focusing on Naoe more but she's unfortunately very non-descript next to Yasuke.

Why so much drama because of a Kang samurai? Is not like Assassins Creed is some beacon of historical accuracy and at least there's the possibility the 16th century Kang in Japan was a Samurai, which is more accurate than their cartoonish albeit fun portrayal of the Borgias.
