Brave Fencer Musashi was a fun ARPG.

I can recommend Koudelka and Shadowheart. Ps1 has KINO horror games. It's actually crazy how many horror games were bangers on it.

The PS1 had a bunch of good JRPGs, Fighting Games, and Metal Gear Solid. You're probably not looking to play arcade mode in some street fighter alpha game on your emulator, so I'd check out:

Vagrant Story is really unique so that's probably my biggest recommendation. The recent SaGa Frontier remaster is a fair bit better than the original too but if you can play the OG for free it's a pretty great game despite all of it's jank.

Gran Turismo 1 is still legit a really good game if you like racing games. Make sure to get the Japanese version to enjoy its far superior soundtrack.

I'm an RPGTrashMan but I always enjoyed:

• Legend of Legaia

• The Misadventures of Tron Bonne (I actually need to play MM Legends 1 and 2 still. The only non-rpg style game on my list I think)

• Star Ocean 2 (although the remake on steam / switch etc is apparently really well done)

• Parasite Eve

• Koudelka (Horror RPG but with like a tactical battle system. Good voice acting tbh)

• Grandia (though even the PS1 original version is apparently a downgrade from the Saturn original. The Switch /Steam remasters are apparently not well done)

• Guardian's Crusade ('baby's first RPG' but with weird difficulty spikes)

• Digimon World 1 (I was SO BAD AT THIS but always had such fun. My Digimon partner always became a shitmon)

• Jade Cocoon (RPG kind of rougelite with an EXTENSIVE monster raising system. I couldn't get into it as a kid)

• Azure Dreams (Dungeon crawler rougelite monster raising rpg kind of game I couldn't get into as a kid)

• Legend of Dragoon (never played but meant to)

I'd be too busy peeling my wife and daughter off of which ever one of those boys got too close to either one of them to be worried about dealing with the boys myself. Wife does cross-fit and fight club and daughter is a preteen Spartan looking for a wolf to turn into a trophy. I'm the most dangerous one, but knowing that about myself also means that I'm the least likely of us three to throw down unnecessarily.
