PS5 Pro details leak

Pardon the MTL:

We'll find the same white color de la exterior facade from console. 2 USB-C ports and the' power button will also be present on the front of the console.
The first difference that'on can notice since our sketch is the presence of three black stripes in the middle of the exterior facade of the PS5 Pro. The type of exterior facade however remains similar to that of the PS5 Slim. And so we imagine that'it is possible to reuse the spare facades designed for the PS5 Slim.
The other difference that we can only see since the final visual of the PS5 Pro concerns its thickness. Indeed, the PS5 Pro looks slightly thicker than the PS5 Slim.

Missing record player ?
Unfortunately, we are not yet sure about this point. Because indeed, the visual we have comes from d'a PS5 Pro without a disc drive. However, and even if we think that this will not be the case, we ignore the' existence of an edition with record player. Even S'it will probably be possible to affix a disc player (in the image of the PS5 Slim).
It is believed that it' is rather a commercial choice of Sony, in order to launch this console on the market with a competitive price by reducing the cost on the presence (optional for some) of'a disc player.

Type of controller included with the PS5 Pro
There will unfortunately be no novelty on this, and we will always have the same DualSense controller included with the PS5 Pro in white (this one is already included in the PS5 and PS5 Slim).

Although Sony's plans may change at any time the PlayStation 5 Pro will be announced soon. Nous let us anticipate that this announcement will be made during the first half of September 2024.

So, it's possible people will be forced to shell out an extra $100 for a disk drive on top of however expensive the Pro itself ends up being and I highly doubt that will be anything below $600.

Let's look at the leaked specs:

System Memory

Standard PlayStation 5 – 448 GB/s (14 GT/s)

PlayStation 5 Pro – 576 GB/s (18GT/s) – A 28% increase over the standard console.

Also outlined is that the PlayStation 5 Pro's system memory is more efficient than the standard console, so the bandwidth gain may increase by over 28%.

CPU

The CPU is identical to the standard PlayStation 5, however, the Pro has a 'High CPU Frequency Mode", which takes the CPU to 3.85GHz – A 10% increase over the standard console.

In High CPU Frequency Mode, more power is allocated to the CPU and will downclock the GPU by around 1.5%, resulting in roughly 1% lower GPU performance.

GPU (previously revealed)

  • Rendering 45% faster than PS5

  • 2-3x Ray-tracing (x4 in some cases)

  • 33.5 Teraflops

  • PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution Upscaling) upscaling/antialiasing solution

  • Support for resolutions up to 8K is planned for future SDK version :marseysurejan:

  • Custom machine learning architecture

  • AI Accelerator, supporting 300 TOPS of 8 bit computation / 67 TFLOPS of 16-bit floating point

  • In addition: 30 WGPs running specialised BVH8 traversal shaders vs 18 WGPs running BVH4 tranversal shaders on the standard PlayStation 5.

So really, the only major improvements are raytracing and better supersampling (since the PS5 struggles enough already with outputting a clear 4K image). Outside of diehard Sonyggers who is this really going to be for? Normalstrags and casuals don't even know what RT and DLSS are, let alone care enough about them to buy into this. This is going to be an incredibly niche product, even moreso than the PS4 Pro which at least had the justification of being able to support newfangled 4K TVs. Nevermind unlike the PS4 the PS5 has failed to get cheaper over time. It's even gone up in price for some regions! This feels like a disaster in the making.

>b-but GTAVI will be a reason to buy the Pro, people will want 60FPS!

The people that go feral over GTA don't care about framerate or raytracing. They'd be content playing it on a Series S probably.

There's a decent chance that Switch Next will also be revealed next month. Whatever that system ends up being like I don't think you could have a more perfect juxtaposition to undercut the living heck out of the 5 Pro.

How will it do at launch?
