Tbh with how Qunari view gender, I actually think this is interesting. What is her caste? Why doesn't it have a gender? That's a cool concept... if you're an actual dragon age fan
It was very clear if you played as a women, Sten just couldn't figure you out. You're a woman, you look like a woman and insist you're a woman, but you're also a warrior and a warriors are men. Iirc he eventually just decides you're a man regardless of what you say.
Then if gender was associated with role and he was confused by gender working outside their role, you'd think the quanari had a solution for genderquestionables. But then iron bull lectures you in 3 when you ask him what is a woman. In between the dragon age games, has there been a quanari schism over gender and these veilguard characters' appearances are explained in game as the new regime's official gender expressions?

Bullying.
Iron Bull continues the same thing Sten does, he's just more used to the alien culture then him. Man Bull is less fun than Sten.
Also pretty interesting character concept! In a society that ties gender and caste so closely together, this chick who clearly wants to be close to her heritage is literally nothing. It reminds me of Magnus from Arcanum.
I mean it's modern Bioware so it will be shit, but the idea isn't a terrible one.

Probably more for dragon age 3. Did they really go into gender before that? Didn't they imply in 1 that gender was associated with role?

Of course not, it's just presentism. The only question is how long and hectoring will the dialogue be to justify the change.
