Reminder that over 300 people :marseypoggers: work on Minecraft to deliver less content in a year than a single unpaid modder can deliver in a week part-time :zoomer: :windowsxpgenocide:

Despite this lackluster pace :marseysleep: Microsoft announced recently that they will be cutting back on Minecraft updates and updating it even slower :marseydarkxd:

!g*mers what are your favorite MC mods

The slow pace is definitely on purpose. Drip feeding new content over years and years keeps the game relevent to people who play it in bursts and then put it down for a year+. Which is important because the game is now basically just an advertisement for minecraft merch and spinoffs.

Microsoft is not that big brained, they just ossify everything into a megabureaucracy built around feature ownership

I think it's more likely that they have such a huge and poorly written code based that the best they can achieve each update is a bolted on, useless feature which further bloats the game.

Some bean counter probably also figured out that the massive updates aren't actually producing sales.
