Buried within FFVII's text files is a bizarre unused sequence in which Cloud follows one of the Honeybee Inn's hostesses and awkwardly attempts to ask for her panties, cycling through increasingly strange possible ways of making the request.

One thing I like about FF7 is that Cloud really tries to be an edgelord but the game simply doesn't let him. He can't brood effectively with all the minigames and nip humor tropes he's forced through

It's great, he's literally stealing the identity of a different, cooler guy, is somehow capable of fighting at the same level so people don't question it too much, and is constantly forced into situations that break up his tough guy routine, like crossdressing. When it hit me that Cloud did actually have a personality and that all of his silent protagonist moments were intentional and in-character I realized that this was a truly well-written game.

All cool guys did this to become cool, except for Bob Ross type weirdos

To be fair he's not meant to be as good at fighting as Zack was, at least not til much later in the game when he's travelled and levelled up a lot. The remake makes it more clear but people tend to laugh at him when he says he's first-class because it's obvious that he's not to anyone who's seen a real one in action

Like in the Honeybee segment in Remake when he's doing a rhythm game dance routine but he looks super pissed and sultry about it.
