They also had very little faith in the project, with the former lead writer saying "I fricking hate this game," more than once in public meetings. They also almost never played the build while writing the game, leading to very detached decision making. To their credit, the narrative team was mostly women, and Deck Nine is, well, Deck Nine. So I'm not sure how much space they had for anything but survival and support of each other.

Chloe is the one who suggested being sacrificed in the first place. Max basically denied Chloe a heroic sacrifice and allowed a whole town full of people including her mom and her friends to die in that ending.

Can you be critical of a colleague's output in this sort of union situation, though? I get that it could theoretically work, but in practice, wouldn't you immediately be outcast for "siding with management over the union"? The ending of this game genuinely pissed me off. After finishing it I could think of at least a half dozen ways to write a better ending that makes more sense yet you're telling me these genetic defectives couldn't figure any of it out and just gave up by the end?

No wonder the endings sucked. None of them had even a clue where to go with it or apparently even tried to fit it together. Since these morons leaned so heavily on the r-sluration that is chaos theory to begin with you'd think they would know that Chloe dying (which is the intended ending) wouldn't fix shit. That is not how chaos theory even works. All they wanted was forced tragedy for the sake of tragedy.

It always bugged me that Life is Strange fans are obsessed with the first game's characters and refused to leave them. When I first played these games, I thought it'd be like an anthology series where every new game had a new protagonist and new powers. There's infinite possibilities with that.

But they hated 2 because it had a moid and they're all yuriggers :marseyneckbeard: and they even hated 3 when it tried to pander to them with a similar kind of plot because it still had new characters.

Life is Strange 1 was kinda neat at the time but it has the problem most Telltale esque interactive games have, your choices are mostly irrelevant and there's just two endings. 2 did a lot to avert this by having your interactions with a supporting character throughout the game alter their personality, and while you do make a choice when you get to the game's ending, the kind of personality you gave to the supporting character also determines your ending and you can't override that. It was more interesting than what I've seen out of most of these cinematic kinds of games.

But no, tumblr shippers hated it. Nothing is allowed to move on from the original because they already self-inserted into it or something :marseyjerkoffsmile:

Then I'm not quite sure you understand the impact of exactly what you have done. Pricefield is incredibly important to me, and to many of us. Life is Strange 1 changed my life. The fact that you took that away from us and so explicitly ruined the ending of the first game... I'm not experiencing "disappointment" or "dismay." I'm experiencing grief and loss. We know art can change peoples' lives and I feel like my life has now been actively made worse because you made this game
