The remasters weren't nearly as bad as people made them out to be, most of the graphical glitches were on switch (no sympathy for switchcels) or in San Andreas (goated when we were kids but doesn't hold up as well as VC did)

Scalding hot take: the sheer number of features in SA really wowed me as a kid, but as an adult it feels bloated. Even the devs admitted they threw every mechanic they could think of into the game. Gang Attacks are clunky and shine an uncomfortable light on just how fussy and outdated the shooting system is (enemies have terrible aim but do absurd damage - let them get close to you and you will die in a second). The gang attacks are 10x as annoying as "Hey Cousin, let's go bowling!" Having to upkeep food and muscle and gang attacks and having to do lots of side-missions for every fricking thing is just tedious.
I also used cheats as a kid which meant skipping all the tedium of having to constantly go to the gunstore for weapons and constantly sit through the slow as heck Cluckin Bell menus to heal.
I'm also waaaaay too white to prefer the soundtrack in SA to VC.
Missions were charming and fun as they ever were and it did have a huge world you could immerse yourself into - but a lot of systems and mechanics clash with each other. It's not bad, just doesn't hold up as much as it was when we were teens.
VC is a lot more "lean" and has a very appealing aesthetic to mayoids like myself.
