Apparently Civ 7 ends in the 1950s so they can sell the rest as DLC

https://www.ign.com/articles/civilization-7-review

"And, peculiarly, Civ 7 only really covers history up to about 1950. You get planes and tanks, but there are no home computers or helicopters in this tech tree at launch. The final science victory condition is launching the first manned spaceflight – quite a step back from setting up an exoplanet colony"

Big oof if true. Call it the Sims dilemma - you have a popular franchise that the devs want to monetize through drip-feeding DLC, but the only way to do this is to release a new major version of the game and hold back a bunch of content that was in the older versions since you have no new ideas and then release that as the new DLC. I hate it and will wait until there's a complete package on sale for $20 5 years from now to play.

The thing is that you don't even need to do that

Just play the old versions

Heck, if you get really bored, play a fan version
