Can confirm. I don't know much about the art side of things, I just know when it's good. And in Half-Life 2 it was amazing. Let's be real with each other for a second: The actual FPS gameplay was not very good. But everything else elevated it up to something more important. And the art was a huge part of that.

I once had a nightmare inspired by the abandoned hospital level. I walked into a room and a guy threw his snake at me. That's how he lived, him and his snake would kill and eat strangers. Scared the fricking heck out of me. If you can get me to dream about that, you're doing something right.

As far as being a geezer, yeah, most of this is going to be lost on you. It's very much inspired by the commie Bloc in the Cold War. Doesn't quite hit home the same if that's just a fantasy world to you. And a lot of it was inspired by old Polish WW2 movies like Kanal !kurwa If you don't have any emotional connection to that because you just care about fat chicks twerking or whatever you kids do these days, you're not fully getting it.
