honestly NV is pretty bad even on that spectrum. games are never very well written but some are mostly passable
maybe im remembering it worse than it is though because its been awhile

Having a coherent plot alone makes it good for vidya writing. Maintaining that in an RPG with player choice puts it up there with the best written 90s cRPGs. That's how dire vidya writing is. If you think a ton of other games are better written I want to know what they are.
