i feel like I really hate this, and How do studios manage to make better games 20 years ago and now they are so incompetent they manage to frick up games that have already been made
in short: because liberal ideology lied to u, capitalist forces dont trend toward meritocracy, it actually trends away
longer: early gaming studios werent see as major money makers and were mostly like just nerds trying to do cool stuff of a living, and if they were successful enough to garner big money interest... when then normally creativity sucking leeches end up in control and the rest is like just a downhill slide
of course, this isnt to say weve lost literally all creativity, it is still around, and there are still some good studios... mostly small ones run by nerds tryin to make a living, and the occasional larger ones that still has some of the og creatives in positions of influence such that what gets put out isnt total dog shit, and but those are more of the exception, and such creatives categorically arent replaceable as they age/get bored/retired ... and the downhill slide is fundamentally inevitable
