I will never understand why game dev's care about the opinions of people outside their audience base.

Because they want to expand their potential consumer base at the price of "r-slurs who will suck up everything" having a worse experience

I would get that. But wypipo moids are the hardest market possible. Gaymes has it. And somehow devs think its worth to tell wypipo moids frick off. In hopes of foids and bipocs. Who are either broke or buying everything under sun allready.

We've seen it with games, comics, action films, on and on. They don't think men are a tough market. They don't think anything their audience likes is worth a darn, so they think they can churn out a game, a Star Wars show, a comic series, and the chuds will buy it no matter what.

So why not try appealing to the very loud (but few) foids and others who claim they'd totally buy these things but... Also, why not put in some vegetables so the chuds are forced to learn to respect women, or not be racist, or whatever idpol the writers want, mixed in with the slop. Their base audience won't mind.

Exacerbated by the insanity of 2020 and its ramifications, various industries have been slowly but steadily finding out that men are loyal but only to a point, and that loud Tumblr-born theoretical audience is an illusion of whiners. But until they get rid of the ideologically captured 'creatives' involved, things just won't improve.

They took men's attention for granted. Now it's going away.

But they know moids are tough market. They talk about it all the time. There is constant examples of those who have cornered it comanding incredible paydays. There are endless studies about moids and their money how they dont spend it. And they are looking these hard. They also know what foids want. How endless cheep trash is what they crave. And handful of them who dont. Just consoome moid stuff.

Storefronts have changed themselves to cater foids. Becouse moid shopping is just ordering online. Or walking into shop. Buying what you need and leaving. Foid go to shop. They look around and buy stuff. Stores reflect this. They are labyrinths where you need to wander around to find what you need. You cant no longer look upon internet where stuff you need is. They look more girlish.

Companies are incredible in tune with differences with moids and foids and their spending habits

It takes so many steps to say frick moids. Its investors. Its companies themselves. Its marketing.

Yet non of them respect moid market. Rather they hate it.

Well, yes, but they still need them to buy the product. They think chuds aren't smart enough to detect when the creators hate them. They think their audience doesn't have media literacy, they just have bigotry.

But they're not talented enough to hide it, not by a long shot.

The number of times people have said 'We don't want you to buy our product,' due to stupid political shit is astounding. And I believe it's always been a self-fulfilling demand as well, yet they keep doing it.

She sells her services as a 'consulatant', and corporate types are :marseynut: horny over consultants for some reason.

Why listen to the game designer who has played 1000s of games when an outside person with 0 experience charging $300000 could tell you what works best?

consulatant

you can blame a consultant. you misunderstand what the point is. corpo types use consults to justify choices they've already made while guarding themselves from certain doom. if everything goes belly up say McKinsely led you astray.

Having known some of these people, I completely understand:

It's because these are the people in their social circle. It's like a cult. I don't mean that figuratively or something, I mean it really is like a cult where everyone they know is a wokie. Modern game devs and reviewers and that whole ecosystem are all stuck in a very sick situation where they constantly have to prove their loyalty to each other. If they get canceled it doesn't just mean the end of their career. It means they're completely alone. It's like being Amish and getting shunned.

It's especially frightening for them because they're spergs with social anxiety and deep down inside they know that they know they're just not likeable. They know this is the one chance they'll ever have to fit in anywhere, so they're desperate to be accepted by their weirdo mentally ill community. They've got much more to lose by getting socially cancelled than they do by making a game they know will be shit and a commercial failure.

I mean, they get paid just the same right?

Programmers are often laid off at the end of the project regardless of whether it succeeds or fails

why would they give a shit about how much money it makes?

Stock awards are often a significant fraction of compensation, so that isn't entirely true.

Because their current audience is people they don't like, and they want to make games for people like them (obviously not exactly like them, their imagined ideal customer buys games)
