Isn't Nintendo like making a completely different kind of product than Microsoft and Sony? Like are they even really competitors anymore? People buy Soywitches for the bing bing wahoo and adjacent games (pejoratives aside yes I know they're extremely high quality and great), people buy Playstation/Xbox for the normal games

The Steam Deck proves that there is a healthy market for portable gaming, a segment Sony has completely abandoned. The Portal (lmao) was an attempt to get back into the market. I do think Sony is realising they are in the least agile position of the big players, and is trying to figure out what to do. I think all the 3rd party games announced for the Switch have them spooked.

People have stopped buying consoles for the normal games though because PC gaming is just so much better. Xbox for instance is likely going to stop being a thing, with stock of it plummeting and marketing completely shutting down a few months ago.
