To nobody's suprprise: Google Stadia May be Shutting Down Soon

https://sirusgaming.com/google-stadia-shutting-down-soon-rumor

According to Twitter account Killed by Google, a group that tracks all of the services that Google closes down, it will not be long before Google scuttles down the services of Stadia. They claim it could shut down by the end of summer. The worst of it all is this: there will be no license transfer of any sort. This means any game that was bought on Stadia will be gone for good when the services go down. There is some good news though.

Anyone else noticed the Stadia influencers? They made 10 posts a day about Stadia to reddit and twitter, and usually streamed a game on Stadia every week. They had some sort of prepackaged script about why Stadia is the future of gaming and good for disadvantaged people, blah, blah blah, they would NOT shut up about Stadia being the future of gaming and what a great deal it is.

:#marseywords:

if those people weren't paid shills, it's somehow even more pathetic

I mean, even during the xbox/GC/PS2 days people simped for companies for companies for no fricking reason. I do feel like they had to pay for stadia shills because cloud gaming is a terrible experience, just having tried it out of curiousity.

good for disadvantaged people

What are the benefits for "disadvantaged" people (whatever that means)?

Well, poors that have really good internet (lmao) can just get a pc (lmao) and then buy games (lmao) and play them on slightly substandard hardware. So this totally caters to literally no one.

Google loves to flex "the disadvantaged" to get what they want. They'll even stoop to portraying people/orgs as "hating the poor" if you get in the way of Google's projects. I've had it happen to me, and I quit a product group over it.

lol yes, I saw an argument with stadia people on twitter and they were like "Of course video games should be an infinite subscription. WHY DO YOU HATE THE POOR SO MUCH"

They would add up a ridiculous gaming PC up to a few thousand dollars, and then all the games, and then say Stadia is accessible compared to $4k or whatever they came up with

"yeah you can play all those games on a $100 ebay laptop, but not ARK: survival evolved... why don't you want poor people to have access to ARK with massive latency???"

first noticed them when a gamedev had his gmail and drive nuked without explanation. he went on a twitter tirade and cancelled his upcoming stadia game. the stadiaposters started calling him a karen, but since he'd lost like a decade of emails & files, the stadiachuds just kept getting dogpiled. eventually the stadia PR team told them to shut up and google apologized.

they are not paid. some are run by stadia staff, but many are wannabe streamers who are (no joke) paid with stadia shirts and baseball caps
