For context, this landlord is paying the tenants electricity bill and wants to keep the thermostat at 66 degrees (19 in non burger units) and redditors think he's freezing then to death lmao
Sneeding:
"Guys making my house a fricking kiln at someone elses expense is literally a human right"
Over your cold dead body lmao

The thermostat isn't usually the only control for your heating so couldn't they just find the boiler, stick it on constant until they're warm and live happily ever after?
What I've noticed about rentoids is this helpless little victim complex. There was a post the other day where something had died in a rentoids roofspace and maggots were dropping through a crack in the plasterboard.
Disgusting as that is, why not bust into the attic, remove the dead creature, clean up the maggots, patch up the crack and paint over it? Why rely on your land daddy to do literally everything and then complain when it's not good enough?

Redditors are ridiculous. 66 is a fine temperature and with electric prices as they are the landlord paying it is a fricking steal. If I was pathetic enough to be a renthog I'd take that.

If your house is freezing, why would you need to trick the thermostat into believing it's freezing?

The most reasonable solution to this disagreement would be to reduce the portion of the rent that was allocated for the heating bill, and give the tenant the responsibility/freedom to pay the bill instead.
Physically locking the thermostat in a cuck box is passive aggressive r-sluration, and will result in the tenant either bypassing/destroying the box, or moving out (or endlessly bitching online because they're too kitty to communicate with their landlord).

They're probably in a big building with with central heating and there's no way to meter how much individual unit uses. Locking the thermostats is the fair solution because otherwise you get some jerk off setting it to 85 and running up the bill for everyone.
