How do you end up with these guys? Are you just adopting woodland critters that go up to your house?

But really Iβ€˜ve always treated wildlife as friends and they’ve always been unusually chill around me. Some are ones that came up to the house, some people have dropped off orphaned or injured and I get them healthy and release them, and others I’ve found on the freeway injured or trying to nurse off their smooshed mother.

I’ve also made the woods around my house as accommodating as possible to the animals I want to live around me. Redirecting and slowing down creeks so there’s water to drink and crayfish to catch, building nests and winching them up in trees, stealing hollow logs from neighboring woods…
