I wonder if the high standards set by the literal top tier maternal figures I had growing up is why I have such unfair standards for foids now.

It's fair to say there are more smart men than women.
But there are still a large chunk of women who are very intelligent(it's a gap of about 7 to 15% in the amount) and should be allowed to pursue science and engineering and things like that. Women aren't mostly stupid or anything. Also women who don't want to do STEM stuff (most women) shouldn't be shamed for just wanting to have a family either.
Edit: basically women tend to have more average IQ for some reason while men have a wider range from r-slurred to savant.

The actual answer is, as usual, genetics. There's a bunch of studies that looked into outcomes of children whose parent(s) died in accidents and found basically no differences from their peers, while orphans abandoned by their shitty parents end up having shitty lives themselves. This is also why you should only adopt children whose parents died in a freak accident.

In contrast my poor grandmother was never the same when her husband died, they had been married since she was 16 and she was in her early 80s when he passed, and only made it another year.
She basically took care of him the last few years of his life too, and when he passed she was so distraught she could barely function.
Maybe its because she was a literal boomer, but her undying love for that old curmudgeon gave a young neighbor hope.

My grandma didnt like my grandpa. She was full of regret when her first fiancee died. So she was all about how her life would have been better with other dude.
Them grandpa died and she never recovered. Sudendly he was greatest man ever to live. Love of her life. Basically she didnt realise how good she had it until he was gone.
