Frick working for the military. We both signed a contract and like heck I'm ever going to do more than the bare minimum.

I don't give a frick if others have to pick up my slack when I'm not scheduled. Drop it off on my desk when I officially start and expect it to land on your desk with 3x as much work because you pissed me off. This is a medical lab, why try to piss off the clinical director who will piss off the PI and come full circle to you resulting in both of us being angry and if not completed we talk to the base commander if we're sufficiently angry?

This attitude is totally OK if your job pays terribly and you're underappreciated, but if I'm decently paid and treated well, I honestly don't mind putting in a little more effort during an emergency.
