I am a non-chud and lean left on most social issues but I will scream if this actually happens. A mininum wage job is not a career you should make $100k+ / year for. It's not even about race or anything, people should make an amount of money proportional to what they do. IMO $7.25 is not enough but $50 is crazy, what would be the point of people going and getting degrees and careers and working hard if you can make $100k with no education and few skills? Now I am seething.

IIRC, some countries like Sweden don't have a national min wage per se, and instead have de facto industry specific minimum wages.
There are good reasons to have a minimum wage, but it's, you know, a price floor. It shouldn't be treated like it's our best and only tool for income redistribution.
