In terms of cinema those were good decades, in terms of music I think the 80s were much better than the 90s.

In terms of !fashion the 80s were an absolutely dreadful decade

Terminator in '84.

Terminator 2 in '91.

!kino, which was better? :marseyviewerstare2:

For its time, The Terminator was excellent. Its special effects were lacking, but the story and characters were absolutely :marseyjustright:. But then T2 kicks it up a knotch. Probably the best sequel ever in history, aside from the Second Punic War. (!historychads, :marseypixel: :marseymarmotroman!:)

!kino is Alien (1978, we watched it on an orgy months ago!) better than Aliens (1985)?, I keep hearing that Le Godfather 2 and Le Aliens are LE HECKIN BEST SEQUELERINOS EVAAAAAR :soyjakyell:

I love Alien but watch it a few times and its flaws start to come out. The guy in the suit is very obviously a guy in a suit (it looks goofy at times), and the alien itself only shows up very briefly throughout the film and most deaths are off-screen (I guarantee you don't remember how the black guy or the other woman died).

In other words, a bigger budget (or being more modern) could've really helped.

None of this applies to Aliens. A lot of the xenomorphs are puppeted and they rarely ever look like dudes in suits (the queen herself is a gigantic puppet and looks fantastic). There's really no part of Aliens that I felt was lacking or needed improvement. It's really the better film.

Is that really a bad thing though? I think it works fine like that. Definitely better than showing the monster too much.

Thoughts on the Aliens directors cut? I like it, but I know some people think it adds to much.

Alien is infinitely better than Aliens, Godfather 2 is fantastic but I'd say the first one just edges it. Pusher 2 would be my pick for best sequel !kino

They're different films in different genres.

Alien was a horror/thriller survival movie, while Aliens is an action flick.

Aliens also introduced the Alien Queen which is a cool concept.

Godfather 2 is better than The Godfather, even though uncle @Redactor0 dislike those films for reasons which are understandable.

Yeah, Aliens is a totally different movie. Less drama and tension but with more action. It was a different movie, and I enjoyed them both.

>Terminator 1's plot was outstanding! :soyjak:

I love T1 and T2 but let's not fool ourselves that T1, which had an overly soapy plot where some guy rescues some girl and she instantly falls in love with him and fricks him immediately, is anything more than campy schlock. It's a fun film but its plot is nothing to write home about. T2 is where they start really fleshing out the setting and the plot actually starts to matter.

:marseysoylentgrin: But it's The Terminator!

In his little motel room, when he's getting ready for his target at the police station, he checks his guns, he looks in the mirror, and he fixed his hair robotically.

:marseycumplosion!:

Why would he do that? He's a thinking masculine. He learns.

:marseybuff:

Or the police officer at the desk, scribbling on papers, Terminator walks in asking for somebody, says, "I'll be back," but it focuses on the guy's paper work, him scribbling, pen scratching, then all of the sudden the car crashes through the waiting room and through the glass-paneled desk.

So many great moments.

Even the main character, he's napping in his car, it flashes back to some (cheesy) war scene, and he's startled awake by a machine (some crane or whatever moving in the background).

How the Terminator walks in that discotech, him seeing his target, and "carelessly" leveling his gun at Sarah and shooting is :marseychefkiss:. "You'll be safe there," says that police chief. Safety in numbers. :marseydisagree: Not with the Terminator.

The kind of violence in that movie was very different for its time, which is why it stood out tremendously and earned a better sequel.

!kino, still talking about The Terminator! :marseywave2:

I love the movie! But I think it is cheesey. It wouldn't win any awards for storytelling or writing, but is very entertaining.

Terminator 1 - Human vs. Unstoppable Killing Machine

Terminator 2 - Human and Unstoppable Killing Machine vs. Somewhat Stronger Unstoppable Killing Machine

T2 is cool and all, definitely a god tier sequel but T1's tension is the stuff of nightmares
