If you think about it, not really. He was outside in an open area and the speeding pieces of 200 speeding missiles were landing in lots of places, including hitting buildings (where people were.)

The reason he was all alone out there, that it looks so unlucky, is because everyone else wasn't on the street because they wanted cover from sky death.
