What made him special
was the fact that he'd been streaming on twitch 
longer than almost anybody else, and was a very influential figure 
in the early streaming world, even before 
he started doing politics.

Back before he got departnered from Twitch on September 2020 (and therefore streamed there exclusively) he was averaging 4.5k concurrent viewers, whereas Hasan averaged 12k concurrent during the same period. Decent sized but certainly far from the biggest, his fanbase is probably more vocal than most so it seems like he's bigger.
For what it's worth now that he's on Youtube Destiny regularly hits 10k+ concurrent viewers there, plus 500-1000 more on Kick. He's live now with about 19k watching.
