I worked literally all night on Christmas Eve. Come morning, I found that I broke every breaker bar in my toolbox. The job is flat rate - it pays a set amount. The customer needed the vehicle back and because it was Christmas, I could not go purchase another tool to finish the job. I lost about 200 dollars in broken tools over a factory mistake, the last bolt in a long job. Not the customer’s fault, arguably not mine. Nobody to point fingers at. Job not done = no pay.

I therefore had to return the vehicle to the state in which it was brought in, also for free.

I worked all night and I have less than nothing to show for it. The hard work I did had a negative value. My body hurts. I’m very tired. I should never have gone into the trades.

The American mechanic is about as fricked as possible. Almost as much debt as college students. But our investment can break or be stolen. Theirs can’t. I just hate my life.

Bro you need to go to college and get a good job to not be poor

I'm in debt because I'm a dumbass and got a useless degree.

Bro frick college go into the trades they MAKE BANK and have zero debt!

My body and spirit = broken. By the time I am "making bank" I'm already too old to enjoy the money I make.

Bro invest in these meme stocks and buy stock options that expire in 3 hours

Margin call looming, need to start selling bussy

Bro invest in these shitcoins, they'll go to the moon

I can't stop getting scammed and grifted, money disappears into worthless big numbers.

The moral of the story is

Bro just be rich, be smart and motivated enough to get a highly skilled and sought after degree, or be amazing with dealing with people and start a business

"be rich" is kind of the only one that matters. Or be born into a good family. Knowledge is worth less than nothing. Hard work is worth less than nothing.

I do feel for mechanic wagies. I have always had old cars that I insist on modifying and repairing myself and it always is ree-inducing no matter how "easy and simple" internet boomers insist every job should be
