Trump: We have a tremendous deficit with Canada. We're not going to have that anymore⦠And if you're a state, we won't have a deficit. We won't have to tariff you⦠We don't need their lumber because we have our own forests. We don't need their oil and gas. pic.twitter.com/sMaUbtrKKf

B..but what about all the discounts I gave?
He could nuke Canada and I don't think world would even notice thobeit
It would be nice to get them for free
Who's going to stop them?
Why would Euros buy heavy Canadian crude they can't refine when light ME crude they can is closer lmao?

Do you think these idiots know the difference between heavy and light crude?
Jump in the discussion.

Almost definitely not. It's a big reason why Canada gives us a discount on it on the first place, our refineries can process more of it and they can move it out to us faster

Should have built the keystone Xl 15 years ago but r-slurs on both sides of boarder stopped it
Trump and I did that rightoids are walking into a bear trap on gas prices. Our refineries have kicked the can on turnarounds since 2020 and they will need to start this year. Gas will go up this year, if they take Canadian crude up and frick with the gulf coast margins than price will be high as frick
I wish Trump never ran off rex tillerson.

I'm hoping he eases regulations on building new refineries. We desperately need to start building more as the ones we currently have are deteriorating and some are shutting down. Luckily Marathon has been buying many of them up and putting money into upgrading them

The margins are fricked with refineries. They run on much similar margins than what you'd expect. We might see some expansions but doubt we ever see a new one

We'll definitely see more LNG plants that's for sure. I just a did a job at Cheniere and they're making BANK, and expanding their trains

For sure, different animal and more controlled/cheaper price on the feedstocks. Refiners get butt fricked when the price of crude isn't consistent. They made bank post-Covid buying cheap crude before Russia invaded. That's not consistent business and that has leveled off. I don't see a way Exxon will invest billions with the threat of the next administration reversing course on gas.
I know an absolute smoke show that works for an LNG company . She gets on instagram and roasts anyone that protests LNG. Really bucks the trend of hot limo liberals I grew up with. Couldn't a nicer woman. It always throws me off when I see her chud posting about LNG. Apparently she got blackballed from a group of Austin-retired millennial chicks cause she called a yoga instructor "a r-slur who doesn't understand where the money her dad gives her comes from" after the yoga instructor posted something anti-Oil and gas.

I think annexing Canada might be one of the funniest things
can do.

It's hard to say with Trump but I'm pretty sure he has no real intention of it actually becoming a state. It would be a disaster for GOP elections so I don't think he'd even get much support from them
It seems like a classic case of puffing your chest to get Canada to work with him on trade deals but who knows he wanted to nuke a hurricane

We should just annex their northern territories where all the natural resources are. And maybe Alberta so we can have a land access that cuts off part of Canada as that would be funny.

Discount? Why doesn't Canada sell their oil and lumber for more elsewhere?
Maybe because there is no discount, and this "economist" is making shit up.![:marseysquint: :marseysquint:](https://i.rdrama.net/e/marseysquint.webp)

They say "discount" because it's less than what other countries might get for their crude.
But that's because Canadian crude is shit quality.
They don't understand that not all crude oil is equivalent. They think it's like selling fresh water where the product is basically the same everywhere.

So it's not a discount, since that problem is priced in.![:marseyangel: :marseyangel:](https://i.rdrama.net/e/marseyangel.webp)

There are refineries in Europe that can handle tar sand crude but Canada hardly sends any crude there or China
95% of their crude comes here to be refined. The idea that Canada can just start shipping all that overseas is ludicrous
Even if the logistics worked out, euros would cry about the climate implications
