Here comes the critique:
The year is 2001, when being gay isn't really normally accepted
The grown adults on Reddit, when given a chance to critique the writing of a literal child, somehow make it worse
Not that there's not anything to critique, check out the opening line:
I looked out at my window from the bus to Stars Hollow, Connecticut, and then checked my watch. The time was 1:45 p.m., but I really didn't know what time it was because my clock hadn't adjusted to the time zone yet. It's about an hour until I reach Stars Hollow.
"The time was 13:45:32 on the dot, but actually I didn't know what time it was because my (analog) watch hadn't adjusted to the time zone yet"

Oh my God, this guy seriously wrote it in Google docs instead of paying 300$ for Adobe InDesign to do it like a professional? I bet his line spacings don't even have custom definitions and his figures aren't pixel-alligned. What a fricking pleb, and he's 14 already as well, he really should know better at this point. You will never make it, you will never get published, might as well start looking for those vacancies at McDonalds to plan for the future.

My understanding is that Microsoft Word is often the format of choice.

Honestly I have no idea what people use to write their books, I was just taking the piss out of it. The reason that I mentioned InDesign is because the only person that I know who actually published books always used InDesign, and when I offered him to switch to LaTex (it was scientific literature), he said that he has to adhere to some strict formatting guidelines or something. More likely the guy was just clueless tbh.
Actually now that I think of it it probably makes sense, because he was doing more merging and formating of papers sent to him than he did actual writing, it really was mostly for design (which was pretty btw)

Nope, InDesign and Word is pretty much required.

I'll keep that in mind if I ever decide to publish something other than a research paper (I won't)
