I'm very grateful for the HR ladies at my company because they say "no" to all the rejects I interview so I don't have to feel awkward. :marseywholesome:

It's usually not HRs fault if you don't hear back, they're waiting on supervisors or managers to give them recruitment directions lol

We give yes or nos like 5 minutes after discussing an interviewee. I guarantee HR waited a week before notifying them to pretend they werent rejected immediately.

Those ones are easy. The issue is that managers/supervisors will think on one candidate and/or ask for more candidates on top, which requires reposting the job and can delay up to three weeks to screen and interview the new candidates. THEN discuss the old candidate + new pool.

Every organization is different though, some hr department make be more or less efficient.

But yes, some hr professionals will delay rejecting a candidate. Their reasoning is that rejecting someone right after their interview (even the day after) can be demoralizing for the candidate.

:marseyagree: One time I completely forgot to advance this candidate who actually did pretty well and then I left to go on vacation. HR stalled him with some genius rizz like "we were very impressed with your ASDAS#RFFA but we're completing interview rounds with other candidates before we make a final decision, please keep us advised if your situation changes." [there were no other candidates, all the others sucked and were rejected early]

Sorry for peepeeing you around, Alex! :marseywave2:

I've done that before, sometimes HR doesn't check-in/remind me of the candidates. :marseysweating: :marseytrollolol: A good HR team will communicate/stall the candidates about the status of their application throughout the delays.

Managers or supervisors get busy. It takes time out of their work to review candidates, set up interviews, interview, then discuss the candidates. I understand taking 2-3 hours can be hard but it can be annoying and HR feels bad because they're basically waiting on the managers/supervisors. But in the end, HR doesn't make the hiring decision just facilitates the process.
