I know a few guys that have actively called for civil war over the last 8 years. The way they say these words so casually terrifies me. I've listened to a lot of Dan carlins hardcore history and he speaks on what happens to civilians during war time and this terrifies me. Boys are conscripted or killed off so they won't cause problems in the future wife's and daughters turned into s*x slaves or r*ped and murder. I think we have a very idealized vision of what war is because the United States has not had a peer to peer battle in a long time. This would not end well. (4)

These BIPOCs are r-slurred to a degree I can't even understand. Most cities are usually split to some 30-70 or 40-60 split on parties. Rural parts of large states (ie California) are pretty red. Only places like New York where it's basically all suburbs and city would be solid blue. Assuming basically all flyover states go with the Red faction, along with obvious splits in "blue" states, they'd have a solid chunk of things. Not much in terms of coastal access but a fair amount of actual farmland, manufacturing and resource of the country.
Blue faction would end up with coasts and the "highest GDP" areas, but most of those places are software producers but don't have too much in proper manufacturing or refining. Both would be reliant on eachother but just have different government systems. Blue would use the money they get to purchase Red crops, probably using a lot of migrant labor to actually work in manual labor as citizens are told to focus heavily on technology. Red would be pretty happy with that deal since they have no way of global shipping since even Texas isn't some solid red. Maybe Florida could act as a major shipping lane but I don't think global crop export is as effective as selling to the nearby coastal guys with high populations.
Purple being contested since Canada would 100% intervene. There would be a lot more splits and messy borders but the online map tool can't really show that

Less civil war fantasy, more what happens as more and more tech and finance companies sneak away from the west and northeast coast. All these Starbucks baristas who don't pay taxes brag and brag about how red states live on welfare, but aside from it being more complicated than that with the way farms enable cities, if/when California tech and East coast finance evacuate, their taxes get BTFO while their cost of living continues to skyrocket with blue policies.

Needing to import things has nothing to do with it, all countries import things.
Most of the incest states are relatively wealthy because they are part of the US, the wealthier states pull them up. If MS was its own country it would sit between Hungary & Poland, that assumes they could maintain the same level of government spending they currently have. You are going to see a preview of what happens if they manage to close down ED, even the wealthier southern states only educate tards because the feds bribe them to do so and IEPs/tard schooling will simply stop being a thing.
TX, FL & GA are the only southern states that would absolutely be sustainable independently. VA is too under current numbers but without the federal government no one would have a job.
I think a much more likely scenario is a switch towards a federation rather than a republic. Central government does much less. I still don't think this is likely at all as it means double taxing until national debt is paid off.
Your understanding of what states produce is pretty poor. 60% of our vegetables come from Mexico, grain is the only class of plant ag commodities where we are self-sufficient. We are self-sufficient in meat too but that is largely as USDA make it fairly difficult to import meat.
The southern states are mostly meat and feed producers not human grain producers, vast amounts of arable land are used for ranching.

its not as if the US couldn't produce large amounts of fruits and vegetables, in the 1980's we only imported some 30% of fruits and 10% of vegetables. Vegetable percents have grown due to NAFTA signing in 1992 (https://www.ers.usda.gov/data-products/charts-of-note/chart-detail?chartId=107008)
and the growths aren't due to some needing of essential food to stave starvation, its because people year round want things like strawberries and bananas. We import 60% of fruit and about 40% of vegetables.
Your 60% of Mexican vegetables number is the amount of imported product which is FROM Mexico making up the whole of imported vegetables. 40% of that import is from various other countries.
