They were about to sign the mineral deal, and then Vance decided to torpedo the entire thing by berating Zelensky in front of the press pool. The first 30-40 minutes were going fine but it started to devolve when Zelensky pulled out his go-to free money trick he uses on European countries, claiming that the USA could be next up on Russia's list of counties to invade.
That's idiotic. We've given $76 billion to Ukraine, most of which Zelensky claims hasn't been received by the military, and he's asking for more and more while lobbing implicit threats. It's extortion.
