Reddit is on fire right now. Being as it's a massive left wing echo chamber with a general iq of a potato. No one seems to grasp its thier tax dollars funding this war. Little shit can't even come to the White house in a suit. The world saw what happens when you bite the hand that feeds you, but somehow, it's the hand's fault when it strikes back. (31)

He did seem bent on trying to sabotage the agreement. This started with his sneering and condescending remark to Vance when he rejected efforts of diplomacy with Putin. When he visited Pennsylvania in October during the homestretch of the election and openly campaigned with Democrats, he called Vance a "radical, which is a pretty wild and inappropriate thing to say about a candidate in another country's election. He really despises Vance and the second he opened his mouth to support Trump's diplomatic efforts he could no longer hide his disdain for him. (1)

If you understand that then you know russia isnt nuking anyone. Peace is nothing without justice. Ukraine was attacked unprovoked twice with thousands of innocence killed. Peace isnt enough. Russia has to give up something for there to be justice. If they arent willing to do that then why should ukraine stop trying to take their land back russia stole? (1)

Any suggestion that we shouldn't give more tax money to a foreign war that's going nowhere is Russian propaganda

The value of this war was wearing down Russia without actually having to fight them. I feel like we've done that enough so now I don't really care

unironically, to the extent they've been 'worn down", it's not worth the cost.
i mean yeah yeah "all dead russians are good" or whatever but realistically does this war mean we can reduce our military spending because russia has been "worn down"? no it doesn't. so what was gained?

Russia hasn't been a military threat (ignoring nukes) since the Cold War. The military was never going to lose funding. The only difference is the MIC will ctrl+f all their docs to swap China in for Russia

Exactly, no shit. That's why this is a pointless waste of money. It's not getting us anything. It doesn't get us cost savings, and it doesn't get us more security, since Russia's frankly not really a threat to us anyways.

There's a lot of room between threat and a a complete non-entity. Gutting the Russians just moves them much closer to the latter and knocks out a regional opponent letting the US pivot all the more to Asia.

But they haven't been gutted r-slur. Not in any way that matters. They still pose EXACTLY as much threat to the US as they did previously. They have nuclear warheads, that is their threat, and this war has done nothing to diminish that.

Yeah, throwing away the majority of their conventional military equipment, that they cant replace, and running their economy into the ground will have no impact on future dumb shit Russia might try to pull
Even if it is just in their own backyard.
Russia wasn't more than a regional player for the last 20 years and now we've guaranteed they'll barely be even that for several more. And all that at a premium discount.

All this assuming the US can pivot to China (something that's been trying to be done since Bush) and such a pivot would last past the current administration (the Dems are now incredibly likely to go balls deep into Atlanticism).

Plus they've been devoting far more money towards their military. The Soviet stockpile was drained, but they designed new weapons and built new methods for producing them.

!mathematics what's the "dollars of US aid per dead russian" number?
Jump in the discussion.
No email address required.
Estimated 200,000 dead Russians (800k-1M total casualties).
$174B from the US.
About $870,000 per dead Russian.
That's a fantastic discount, the GWOT was anywhere between $1-4T and we had to do it ourselves instead of outsourcing cheap labor.

It's funny because both Russia and Ukraine are claiming to have caused a gorillion casualties.
Some of the US "estimates" suggest they've lost more people than in World War 1, it's ridiculous.

When it comes to casualties, you have to include total loss in available fighting capability.
Death, injury, desertion, and missing. And as far as injuries go, the type that makes it so a soldier cannot fight, even if it's a broken arm and takes him out of the fight for a couple months in a cast and longer for rehabilitation.

You want to bring it down to 100,000 USD per dead Russian or it is not worth it accounting for how many Russians there are in total.
Also the total dead has to be way more than 200,000 otherwise Russia wouldn't need to emergency conscript hundreds of thousands of more people every single year.

Not true, Russia has Europe-level demographic issues (the elderly one, not the chud one) so this will cost them dearly, unless they can shit out 200k new native ruskies.

No, they will be competing with Europe and lose. Who the frick would want to move to the most depressing country in the world. Had a friend move to Russia two weeks before the war to "live the trad life" and even HE had to move back because Russia sucked so bad.

Drad Russians are great and all, but that is just hastening the demographic collapse that was already inevitable.
Gutting their irreplaceable (by them) Soviet military stockpile and setting their economy back by decades is the real prize here. Fricking over hypocritical Germany (Nordstream) as well is just an extra bonus for me

Anyone who kvetches about spending a fraction of a percent of the national GDP to hire hohols to kill Russians is either a zigger or contrarian. It has been dirt cheap to keep Russia bogged down in their quagmire that they cannot back out of.

Zelenskyy and Putin could come to a pragmatic agreement whenever they want. As long as they are both unwilling to compromise their war aims I see no reason not to continually spray vinegar into Russia's wounds. I don't see American support as a bargaining chip to pressure Ukraine as Europe would just step in more if America withdrew support. It's just geopolitics. I'd support the same for if ever China invaded Taiwan.

But we're not giving them any money! We're giving them 5 year old military equipment (that was purchased with tax dollars) so we can buy brand new equipment from Raytheon (with tax dollars). Get Putin's peepee out of your mouth, bigot.
