I was working on a construction site, and the company I was working for had 26 guys on that job at one point. Over three months, they laid off one or two guys a week until there were six left. Every Thursday night I would have nightmares thinking I could be boing into my last day of work. Every friday, I would have to go into the shitter and have a cry. I could barely handle the stress. I would blow up at my girlfriend for no reason. I didn't even remember watching the new Twighlight movie together. I had to go through years of therapy before I could even watch it again. I still don't think I've quite gotten over the trauma.

I only feel bad for the non-redditors this is affecting. The threads on how redditors are reacting shows that, if anything, they weren't disrespectful enough to these emotional babies.
It's even worse knowing that a large amount is performative. Having public displays of pathetic behaviour being used to signal your part in the in-group shows the entire group celebrates weakness, fragility and victimhood. We already knew that, but it has a way of making everyone involved look far more deserving of scorn and disrespect.
