SB 20 has passed the Texas Senate—an important step forward to protecting our children. I’m proud to support this legislation & look forward to seeing it become law.

I've posted stuff in relation to this before:

There was a 2002 supreme court case that basically said the state can't do what texas did (because technically it could ban stuff like Romeo and Juliet), but in 2003 the federal gov passed a law making digital depictions of real kids illegal (no challenges to that yet). AFAIK no one has ever gotten prosecuted specifically for this though, even though Shadman did actually do that (with keemstars kid IIRC).
This law will probably never be used, I find it interesting because I was in the Art section of my library and I found a Van Gogh(?) collected sketches and some of them were just naked kids, Does that count as CP? What about the book Lolita? or kubriks movie? isn't there like 1-2 bible passages that have kid r*pe? idk.
<- how old is this marsey btw
also side note it's funny asking LLMs about this because they will start providing answers, but then usually delete the chat after they finish, even if you are specifically asking about the cases involved.
^here is an AI generated lawyer I made to help answer the question, she just called me a creep and deleted herself.

They are taking another bite because Thomas said explicitly in that case when technology reaches the point where it becomes indistinguishable from the real thing the government likely has a case to criminalize it.
Only in Australia. They have some real wacky shit like criminalizing fictional stories. Possession of the IT book would qualify as possession of CP.

While aus hasn't used the law to do it yet, they can classify porn as child porn if the actor has small breasts.

See that kind of worries me, if the law can technically frick you over with the same force as with actual CP, just for liking small-breasted cuties, then you really have a shitty country.

California's already been prosecuting photorealistic AI CSAM so I assume that will be the line for now.

I wonder how many countries a koran graphic novel would be banned in

Canada for sure, there was an anon who posted about how he bought a fleshlight that had an anime character on the side, the anime was not really loli but just like general anime looking. The postal service saw it and reported it to the police. he had to pay 20000 dollars for a lawyer to say "the character doesn't have a name or any other characteristics, they are art on a box." and i think he would have gone to prison for 10 years if they decided to prosecuted him.
