If it makes only 240M then it's a flop. The studios usually cash out 55% of the box office, the rest goes to the movie theaters and distributors. Not to mention another 200M on marketing.

Yeah, i saw some non-chud estimates put the breakeven at 600/650 million. To put it in perspective, outside of avatar 3 there probably isn't another movie coming out this year that can bomb this hard even if it makes 0 dollars at the box office.

With movies like this, that seem to get almost no publicity or marketing, i wonder if the "double the budget to account for marketing" still holds true. Even if you astroturf social media to heck and back, like Star Wars and such did, I cant imagine it costing that much. Legacy media was probably a lot more expensive to buy the same effect, compared to modern marketing.
