I wonder how this happened. Is Lithuania uncapable of marking it's swamps properly? Were the burger soldiers completely r-slurred and drove an armored vehicle through a swamp? Was everybody involved in this drunk? :marseydrunk:

For some reason they decided to leave the road and drive in the swamp.

They had been sent out in an M88 Hercules, essentially a giant armored tow truck, to extract another Army vehicle, the military said. They may have driven off the road and into the swamp, according to a U.S. Army official in Europe. The soldiers appeared to have been trapped inside as the M88 sank, the official said.

Probably yeah. Region specific environmental hazards tend to have only people who grew up around them and aware of them take them seriously. That's why you have to oftentimes beat information into people's heads that they didn't automatically learn growing up in their part of the world.

Probably sank too fast, it's basically like driving into a lake except there's thick bogflora there to prevent you from getting back up. The hatches may have been blocked by multiple feet of collapsing bog moss.
