There are no infringements on free speech in the UK. But you just have to deal with the consequences if what you say is illegal or against the law. If you spout hate, then yeah, you can expect some consequences. It really is not hard to understand. This is the POTUS and V-POTUS, you would expect them to know their facts, it is embarrassing that they need to corrected by other country leaders on live TV.

These same old examples get brought up time and time again. The student who called the horse gay is an interesting one - he was a very posh oxbridge student, pissed out of his face, who decided to waltz up to a mounted police officer and ask him 'did you know your horse is gay?'. You can imagine the context might have been one of 'har har look at me interacting with the commoners'. I'm very much of the opinion that this (likely working class) policeman decided to use the law at his disposal to teach this pompous little butthole an important lesson about respect. He spent a night in the cells if I recall - could have done him for being drunk and disorderly probably.

Brits are so absolutely cooked. They crave the 1984, they demand it, they dream of it. It was never a dystopian novel like it is for any normal person, it has always been the final utopian dream of the britoid :marseyitsallsotiresome:

A better question would be, what country isn't cucked on the free speech issue?

Even in muric'a the government uses big corpos, banks etc to deplatform wrongthinkers, so it's just slightly better because you can stay out of jail chudposting in your mom's basement :marseytabletired:

But every country has some form of blasphemy law, for the western ones, religion changed into 'decent human being-ism'. Whether you get arrested for posting a meme of ugly mao, criticizing islam's phophet or uttering an allah forgive me, a transphobic slur, it's all the same.

You only really feel free to speak if your opinions align with the current state religion.

That's your contribution to an intelligent discussion? A vague, unspecified criticism, accompanied by an implicitly self-aggrandizing bit of arrogant dismissiveness?
