Food is a large part of it. Local, fresh, seasonal and cheap.
I pay at least 50% less for better quality food in Germany compared to my local farmer's market in the Midwest.
Eating out at restaurants is also a ton cheaper.
I can have an appetizer, main course and desert with a beer for less than $30.
That's very rare to find in the States, where you have a 70% of a restaurant being just pure shit.

Most of us can and do take care of ourselves with gardens and shit, so the people going to farmers markets are smug urbanites rubes that are easy to rip off. If you drive the old 2 lane highways you'll pass a dozen houses selling eggs $3-4 a dozen, just pull in the driveway and honk. If you go to a farmers market they're like $8.

Why is that chart using a nonsensical arbitrary definition of lifespan? Wealthy Americans live longer than even the median "European" in Western Europe let alone the poor. Also, poor countries in Eastern Europe have a median lifespan lower than the American median.
