I see some truth to this. I've got quite a bit of money and travel a lot.
I don't check bags, allow bell hop to take bags to my room and have never lost a valet ticket (I avoid hotels with valet)
I don't like being inconvenienced, airline losing a bag, inconvenience. Waiting on the bell hop, inconvenience. Waiting for the valet every morning and receiving door dings and scratches from the valet, that ticket says not responsible for damages, inconvenience. All these things are out of my control.
