I see some truth to this. I've got quite a bit of money and travel a lot.
I don't check bags, allow bell hop to take bags to my room and have never lost a valet ticket (I avoid hotels with valet)
I don't like being inconvenienced, airline losing a bag, inconvenience. Waiting on the bell hop, inconvenience. Waiting for the valet every morning and receiving door dings and scratches from the valet, that ticket says not responsible for damages, inconvenience.
