I love when I'm looking for something just to window shop and see if a product interests me, and I see 20 of the exact same product with a different configuration of alphabet soup stenciled in.

I barely use Amazon anymore anyway but it's absolutely infuriating and a huge reason I don't use it anymore outside of occasionally house supplies if I'm in a pinch and can't get to the store for a few days, things like TP, Paper towels, dishwasher pods, etc.

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

Amazon, funnily enough, has reverted almost exclusively to a bookstore for me because of this. Back to the good old days

If I don't have a very specific brand in mind I don't even consider it. It just feels gross to scroll through all the Alibaba promotional images

I hate to admit it, but I've installed parts from HANYUNG MOTORSPORTS OUTDOOR LIFE CAR and other Chinese brands on cars I've owned out of cheapeness, and in weirdly kind of critical areas

I wouldn't even buy those specific brands from Amazon. All the sellers comingle their inventory and they'll ship from which ever seller has inventory closest to you, likely resulting in the delivery of a counterfeit product.

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

With "brand" items like clothing yes. There's no authentic clothing on amazon

But nobody's counterfeiting specific glassware or cowtools or whatever

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

I learned about the comingle issue with scrub daddies. The real thing doesnt degrade at all for like 6 months and are cleanable. The counterfeits barely last a week. When I order from the official scrub daddy page on Amazon I get counterfeits every time. Gotta get them from retail now.

Jump in the discussion.

I find Amazon is generally good if you stick to well-known brands. People complain about getting fakes but I've never gotten one and I'm 100% certain Amazon would let you return it. I'd say it's usually the same price or cheaper than ordering the item directly except with Amazon you also get fast free shipping and a return policy that's miles better than anything on any other online outlet.

If I buy anything "off-brand" there, I assume it's going to be plastic garbage.

It's really crazy seeing the "we need our wholesome overseas sweatshop workers" angle against Trump from typical liberal/left people. Same thing with the "who's gonna slave away in our farms if he gets rid of illegals???"

It's infuriating to discuss this with them because they don't understand basic market economy

>:soyjakanimeglasses: You wouldn't work for 5$/h picking cotton right? That's why we need latinx do it

As if the market wouldn't instantly adjust and the jobs replaced by robots or the wages increased. But i guess it's easier to lobby the government to keep the flow of illegals

You saw it here after Brexit. There was months of crying about how we'd have no more truck drivers and shelves would be empty everywhere. Then magically wages rose, working conditions improved and the jobs were filled by people that apparently wouldn't want the job in a million years

A lot of the jobs in the midwest that are primarily done by mexican immigrant labor now (meatpacking, roofing, drywall, etc) used to be professional jobs back in the 1980s, and they paid a decent wage for the time, like enough to support your family with.

butchers make about half as much as they did in 1970, they cant afford a family or to start their own butcher shops any longer (eta: had average instead of median at first for 2025)

Right and the republicans (preMAGA ones anyway) want the cheap products so Business can be Cheap, and the democrats want the slave labor. Its only the magats ruining everything by insisting on living wages and benefits, which is kinda bizarre.
