What the last decade has taught me is a significant amount of people seem to lack a sense of self awareness and theory of mind. They can't comprehend being inquisitive about another person's goals, either you think exactly how they think or think the way they feel you think. They cannot comprehend that other ppl are concious and have their own equally complicated life that would lead them to see things differently.

If you accept that personal experience is a valid basis for one's beliefs then it's a whole can of worms

COVID is a fair point, and should be factored, but according to your data, Biden would have still lowered the deficit (although by a lot less) even without COVID. Trump raised the deficit even in his first 2 years, before COVID hit. It also follows with historical data. For the last 60 years, EVERY SINGLE Republican presidential term has led to a deficit INCREASE. In that same timeframe, every single Democratic presidential term has led to a deficit DECREASE. It is almost impossible for Republicans to lower the deficit, even if they cut spending, because they also greatly reduce revenue through tax breaks for the wealthy every time they are in office.Fair point.
