Ukraine's Reddit brigade gets liquidated by a cruise missile before it can start training. Survivor currently trying to convince other Redditors not to go

OP's profile is a good read: https://old.reddit.com/user/spindokto/

Redditors are accusing him of being a Russian disinfo agent

Yeah dude the Ukrainian border guards were asking if we had extra gear for them, unreal how close they're taking it

Did not come to fight, I'm a medic and came to treat casualties, preferably without becoming one myself

Witnesses mass casualty event his first day there, instantly leaves

Also, who really expects a jet to attack them πŸ˜‚ That's part of being naive, of course I knew it was a possibility I was just really fricking hoping it wouldn't happen to me

:marseybrainlet:

That was what a lot of people were saying, that they were pushing the legion up to Kviv as cannon fodder. And how can you argue that when guys are given no training, and AK with no butt stock, and one magazine? When guys were asking for more ammo a Ukrainian officer said "take it off dead russians"

Based, Westoids getting the full eastern front experience

Those of us who left, including SF operators from multiple countries, are simply risk mitigating. No one wants to die in an unfair fight, and after getting absolutely fricking pummeled by massive cruise missiles today - yeah I kind of want people to think twice before turning their life upside down to go and volunteer.

Life comes at you fast

Honestly I went there not planning on taking much risk

:marseyautism:

The cannon fodder term is what was coming out of a lot of volunteers mouths that's why I mentioned it. There was a real shift in peoples expectations of being utilized as a unit with operational capabilities vs. the reality of basically being bodies in front of the advancing Russians

Wait, you mean a country fighting a desperate defensive war against a superior opponent is taking a lot of casualties? :marseyshook:

I am in Poland! With many other volunteers. I'm man enough to walk away from a situation when my gut tells me so.

Shits pants, refuses to elaborate, immediately deserts :gigachad2:

Hahaha wtf. Can't westoids just arm these r-slurs in poland if supply situation is that bad in ukraine? What's even happening, their whole army has nlaws but no bullets? Or do they hate the foreign volunteers so much they actively want them to die?

MiG-21s bro. I worry that St. Thomas might not have really brought the good news to your country because you clearly haven't heard the one about the plank in the eye.

A jet is a lot more expensive than ammo and we actually have to pay for our shit. Hohols are getting everything for free, not to mention how they inherited a massive chunk of soviet military industry. This is just terrible organization.

Yes you do! Way to post your Ls. How is the Indian defense industry coming along? Why is this emerging superpower so far behind smaller countries like Britain, France, South Korea, Japan, Turkey, Israel, even fricking Sweden where half the economy is based off of that crooked Bofors artillery deal.

State run industries are terrible. Plus there's no civilian aviation development in Asia historically, sort of difficult to start up a purely defense industry probably. Even China's having problems with developing their own jet engine. Anyway, Israel+Russia are doing a lot of tech transfers and we're privatizing too, hopefully in 20 years we'll be the ones supplying arms to African warlords, not China. :marseywholesome:

Yeah, a lot of this is just that the barriers to entry are so high. An extreme amount of resources got poured into this in USA, Russia, Europe in the 1940s-1980s and it's hard to catch up even now. But there's still something about India where they seem to be pretty good at developing people as individuals but can't succeed at big projects. :marseyshrug:

If we start sending munitions to Ukraine while I still have to pay $0.50 for a single god darn 9mm shell, I'm going to shit myself.

It's been said a hundred times here, but a bright-eyed naive westerner is infinitely more useful to the war effort as dead on camera, rather than alive and wasting ammo.

As someone mentioned the other day: in a western nation with full internet access and everyone has a cell phone, we have almost zero war footage . . . which means either there is no war on or it is not going as well as advertised. I'm guessing at this point that the high-tech munitions being used on tanks sort of videos are carefully staged CIA operations.
